A computer virus is a type of malicious software or malware that is capable of replication and can be transmitted from one computer to another. Many people mistakenly refer to all types of malware as viruses, although other types of malware such as spyware or adware do not have reproductive capabilities. Computer viruses cause various types of damage to computer systems. This includes visible damage such as slow computer speed, hangs, frequent reboots, etc. However, most viruses damage the system without the user's knowledge. Some viruses do not harm the system, but only attract the user's attention. An alarming virus called CIH was activated every year on April 26 and formatted computer hard disks. It is currently inactive.
